Write a birth plan

writing a birth plan

A birth plan is a document you create to let your medical team know your preferences and wishes. You should give your birth plan to everyone involved with the delivery. Some things to consider when writing your birth plan include: who you want present, procedures you want to avoid, what positions you prefer for labor and delivery, what clothing you’d like to wear, whether you want music or a special focal point, whether you want pain medications and what kind, and what to do if complications arise. However, remember that you can’t control every aspect of labor and delivery so you need to be flexible if something happens that requires you to depart from your plan.
